i recently had my friend put photoshop on my usb stick. I opened the file that said adobe, but there are just so many more files. i dont know which one to open to install photoshop!

one of those files has to be adobe photoshop (version whatever). If you don't have that in the usb thats mean you don't have photoshop in the file
Photoshop requires a registry entry to work, so you actually have to install it for it to work on a computer. Even if you installed it and then reinstalled windows, you cat use it even though all the files are exactly the same.
You cannot install it from anything but a cd or a iso image.
to install you must use .exe file
it would normally be called either set-up.exe or install.exe
Your best bet is probably to go to add remove programs in your controll pannel then windows should detect the correct file to start install
